EU Roaming Charges

Just a quick mention that as from today (May 1st) roaming charges for mobiles in the EU are MUCH reduced. €0.04 for calls and per Mb of data and €0.01 per text. AND, if you are lucky enough to be with Tesco, roaming charges are being removed completely for the summer from May 23rd until sometime in September. All roaming charges will be removed in 2017. This seems to have had little coverage in the UK press. Could this be something to do with our mostly eurosceptic press not wanting to print anything that reflects well on the EU?

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Good news for us EUropeans. On a related note as a satisfied customer I recommend Three UK's "Feel at Home" deal to Brits looking for a calls and/or data package. I'm a PAYG customer and it has worked well for me in Spain, France, Switzerland and Italy. Just about to try it out in Sweden and Norway.

The Canadian in me wants to cry when she reads this as this country has some of the highest cell usage fees in the world. Modernity has yet to reach us and I now have am extra reason to love my red passport even more. Oh well, I ger more square footage at home for the same price, si maybe we're even. But some cell oligarchy is still taking advantage of me. May the gulfstream reverse and bring us those good deals.

Should point out that those are the capped additional charges for roaming - you will still have to pay your phone company's normal rate for calls and data as well.

Rats! I thought you were getting your cake and eating it too!

This seems to have had little coverage in the UK press.

In Spain it has had less coverage than when the original plan to end the roaming surcharges in the EU in 2015 was delayed to (some date in June, if memory serves me right) 2017.

P.S.: Be careful with non-EU countries within the EU (e.g.: Switzerland that being in the Schengen Area some people may forget it isn't in the EU or Andorra) as well as in border areas with non-EU countries (or areas close enough to a non-EU country as to get coverage from the non-EU country instead of the EU country where you are).

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.
