Footwear on Mozarabe

Hello, I plan to walk from Almeria to Granada in the first half of October. What footwear should I select - boots with an ankle support (15 cm or 6"high) or just shoes. Please share your experiences. Thank you.

I walked the Mozárabe from Almería starting in mid-April. I, and most of the loosely formed forum group we called the Mozárabe Mob, wore trail runners, I believe. That is my go-to Camino shoe for any camino these days, but it is particularly welcome when walking on rocky trail beds, of which there are more than a few on the Mozárabe, and when walking on asphalt, an inevitable feature of most caminos.

I was going to welcome you to the forum, but see that you’ve been a member since 2012!
Buen camino, @Terenia, I think you will love it.

Most of the ground conditions are firm, sandy, light gravel to small pebbles. If not a path or road it's a farm track. Shoes or runners are sufficient.

I have read on this forum that boots with "ankle support" don't support ankles. If you don't tie your laces properly, that is probably correct.

If you are wearing boots for ankle support, then I would say: yes.

If you are wearing boots for protection against mud and water, then maybe not on the Mozarabe.

I have always worn boots on 18,500 km of pilgrimage routes since 2008. I don't plan to change this.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Hey Laurie, Joe and I are talking about walking this again. How was the weather? Did you have much rain? We'd probably start from Malaga early April.

Hola, I gearing up to start my 1st CdS and have seen people recommended sleeping bag liners to protect against bed bugs. Do these help or is it a myth? Should I add the extra weight of bringing one?
