Foz Coa, UNESCO World Heritage Site

Time of past OR future Camino
April 2024
We want to visit Foz Coa, the UNESCO World Heritage Site, to see the 22,000 BC Paleolithic paintings during our stay in Porto, as a mini-break during our pilgrimage along the Camino Portugues.
Can anyone please share their experience in taking the train or bus from Porto to Foz Coa and back?
Or is it better to rent a car?

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
You could consider taking the Linha do Douro train to Pocinho but you’ll still need a car or a taxi to get around the accessible sites. There are some challenges in locating and viewing many of the petroglyphs. Guided tours are available. I found the museum disappointing but that was more than a decade ago. Things may well have changed
