Will be in Galisteo about 10am tomorrow morning but not sure where to aim for, to stop around 3.00pm approx. The accommodation guide i have talks about 'first junction' and 'second junction' to a place to stay but doesn't give any info about distance or time to get to the accommodation. Carcobosa seems a bit close to stop. Ideas please ...

So, Undermanager, are you sticking with the Vdlp? Have things gotten any calmer?

You can walk to Oliva de Plasencia, which is either 19 or 24 km from Carcaboso, depending on which way you take. Here's Isabelle's great map:

I really enjoyed taking the off road route, which goes to the Arco de Caparra and then out to Oliva. This way, you can arrive at the site during visiting hours, there is a museum and a lot of excavation going on. Then the 5 km more out to Oliva. The next day you will "backtrack" those 5 km to Caparra, but since you've already visited the ruins, you don't need to sit and wait for them to open, as I saw some pilgrims doing when I walked by around 8:00 am.

You can be in Carcaboso by around 1 from Galesteo. If you push on to Oliva de Plascencia, you'll get there around 4 or 5.

I'd recommend Carcaboso and then regroup for either Oliva de Plascencia or Hostal Asturias the next day.

Be careful with Oliva de Placencia as it may be closed - heard the such on a Spanish Plata Facebook page. I've stayed at Hostel Asturias twice and it is fine. You can have them do your laundry too.

Glad to see you are still there Undermanager. Hope you are in good spirit again. I enjoy your posts and find them informative as I will be there in a few weeks.

I am writing from Calzada de Bejar - a bit further along. Just a heads up - after the arch the camino is absolutely gorgeous but very wet. Yesterday there were two places where we had to walk through streams. Some kept shoes on; some took shoes off. Eventually there is a place where the way follows a small side road - we just walked on the road. I also did that today. There is a lot of water running down these hills!
Buen camino!
