GPS track and albergues POI: Camino Portugues with Fatima detour

Pilgrim-S-414

Time of past OR future Camino
Camino Frances: 2019,2018, 2014 Camino Portuges: 2016
Here is a link to a kml file
that contains a GPS track for Camino Portugues, with a detour to Fatima from Santarém and back on CP via Tomar.
The track also has albergue POI's. Each POI has a small description with adress, phone number and in many cases pricing.

I suggest using the file with an offline maps program like http://maps.me/en/home
# download the app
# under "download maps" get Spain and Portugal offline maps
# open this forum post on your smartphone
# click on GPS track file link in this post
# and open it in maps.me app
(the route is much more visible in night mode. go to settings - Map - and set night mode as on)

Hope you find it useful.

Bom Caminho!

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
Perfect timing! A friend and I are starting the CP in early October and this will be a great help. Only one question - how do you get the app to connect with the track file? I have downloaded the app and the track file, but I can't make the app recognize the track. All help sincerely appreciated,

Duke

try clicking on the track file
# on an Android device it than asks you to choose an app to run the file with (it should offer maps.me

for an iPhone the principle is the same, I set it up to a Korean pilgrim yesterday

Am on an Apple phone. Track is downloaded to Dropbox, where it sits without offering a choice of app. Hmmm....

St James' Way - Self-guided 4-7 day Walking Packages, Reading to Southampton, 110 kms
when a Dropbox link is opened, in the upper right corner of the screen you have an option
"direct download" that will download the file to your device.
Once downloaded click on it and it will offer MapsMe as an app to open it with (you have to install Maps.me first)

Hope this clarifies the issue

Thanks for the tip. Will the maps only open once you are in the location? I have them in maps.me but when I click the maps link, all I see is my current location in the USA, not the maps in Portugal.
