i have the pleasure of working a few days at the pilgrim office as a volunteer issuing compostelas to pilgrims who have arrived in santiago to receive their compostelas this past september.
first of all, my congratulations to all the pilgrims who have completed their caminos. i am very pleased to see the happiness and exultation shown on their faces upon receiving their compostelas, even though many have arrived completely exhausted. and many have arrived with blisters and other foot or knee ailments. the happiest pilgrims i have encountered are the ones who have walked the last hundred kilometres on foot. it is quite an achievement for many of them to walk this short distance. many of the pilgrims have tears of joy and happiness upon receiving their compostelas. some of them have burst into crying. some of them became very emotional as it meant something very important in their lives.
i am also very proud and happy to see the long distance camino walkers. for many of them, it was their numerous caminos.
i hope to see many of them returning to walk the camino again. again my sincerest congratulations (felicitaciones, felicitations, gluckwunsche, felicitats, parabens) to everyone.
buen camino and may god bestow his blessing on all of you.
