Help with missed flight

walking my first camino in march 2016
I missed my flight from SFO to Madrid due to severe and sudden illness (stomach flu :(. I now am waiting to be rescheduled hopefully ASAP. I know that I lost my reservation payment for hotel. I was supposed to be met in Pampalona by a gentleman, spend the night at his pension and he would then drive me to St. Jean. I received an understandably angry email. I wrote explaining circumstances but very much need to make this up to him. I would like to send (overnight?) monetary payment as well as some token of my regret. I feel terrible this happened ...for obviously many reasons but any advice in this matter would be appreciated.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Have you informed Istvan, the host/owner at corazonpuro@corazonpuro.es that you were unable to fly due to illness? If not do so now. Explain your chagrin. Offer to pay in full your missed reservation and transport. Ask how this might be done. Both Istvan and his wife, Barbara, are kind and considerate hosts. However with only 10 places in their pension they operate on a very tight budget.

THANK YOU!...YES I SENT AN EXPLANATION WITH AN ABJECT AND HEARTFELT APOLOGY AND OF COURSE AN OFFER TO PAY. WHAT I DID NOT DO IS ASK HIM HOW TO DO THIS...WHICH I WILL DO IMMEDIATELY AND KEEP YOU POSTED. I HAD BEEN THINKING OF OVERNIGHTING A CHECK BUT WASN'T SURE. I FEEL TERRIBLE ABOUT THIS WHOLE SITUATION. ALL I CAN SAY IS THE CAMINO WILL MAKE THINGS RIGHT FOR ME ( I AM NOT FEELING TOO GOOD ABOUT MYSELF...I THINK PART OF MY ILLNES WAS CAUSED BY FEAR..OF FLYING AND THE TERRORIST ATTACKS HAD JUST HAPPENED...AND I PANICKED SO NEEDLESSLY) AS LONG AS I CAN MAKE THEM RIGHT WIITH ISTVAN.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Hi @jan sollish, did you manage to reschedule your flight? If so, you can call in to Corazon Puro and pay them in person the day that you walk to Zubiri or Pamplona (probably about day 3 if you're walking from St Jean). I'm sure they will appreciate you doing so. Buen Camino!

Dear Jan,
Sorry your Camino hit a snag. I just wanted to comisserate with you..there is a terrible flu bug going around here. I work on the Peninsula and a lot of co workers have gotten it. Hope it all works out and you are able to go soon.
