How best to travel to Barcelona from Santiago de Compostela?

I've been so intent on the pilgrimage to Santiago, I never thought about returning to Barcelona for our trip home. How is the best/cheapest way to do this, bus, train or air?

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
or Spanair is even better (no hassle with the printing- out the tickets...or luggage hassle). Allmost everyday all July or September there are ticktes (from SDC to Bcn) available for about €85, in October €52. And you land at the El Prat the main international airport of Barcelona.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Re: How best to travel to Barcelona from Finisterre?

If I go on from Santiago to Finisterre are there buses to get me back to Santiago? I didn't see Finisterre or Cee listed in either the Ava or Alsa sites...

hi there guys, i will be travelling from Santiago to barcelona mid-october this year.

Do you think i would need to get my air ticket to Barcelona prior to arriving ie now, or could I get one reasonably quickly upon arriving in Santiago. Obviously i don't want to be limited date-wise by pre-booking.

Also, where in Santiago do i go to arrange the flight?

Thanks so much, juju

Hi, I also will be going Santiago to Barcelone later this year and I have found the bus trip by ALSA (http://www.alsa.com) takes a long time and it is overnight. The cheapest and quickest is to fly, and I found Clickair very cheap (http://www.vueling), but also check out Ryanair and Spanair as others on this forum have suggested. All the flights are about an 1 hour. With these cheap airlines, generally the sooner you book. the cheaper the fare, and it is easy online. If you need to wait until you get to Santiago, I suggest you go to one of the Tourist Offices to enquire about location of travel agencies, of which there are plenty.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

thanks for that guys. so do you think it would be difficult to get a ticket in mid-october...when we get there or need.... in other words do the airlines get booked out at around that time?

Hello all!

I just wanted to see if there was any advice booking a plane ticket from Santiago to Barcelona on arrival in Santiago...
I am commencing my Camino in September, and aim to be in Santiago by mid-October but did not want to commit to a specific date in case end up taking more or less time; not having travelled much in Europe before, would anyone know if it would be too risky or difficult to book a ticket at this time of year?

I cant imagine your gonna have any problems finding a last minute airplane ticket to Barcelona.

I did it by train, just for fun. I payed 65 euro and booked it last minute. Flying would have been cheaper and was also available last minute. This was in may.

Very nice trains from Santiago to Barca. Lots of room.

I took the train. Overnight. Next time I'll book a sleeper as although the seats are recliners and comfy I never got a good rest. Ruined my first day in Barca. Don't forget to utilise the 'Tarjeta Dora' if you qualify. Good discount.
I'll consider the plane next time, but I do like trains!

I can't remember there being a sleepertrain. I asked for it and there was only the one train, i was told. There was only type of one seat, one class.
I slept ok. Seats reclined enough to sleep ok. Compare the seats to airline businessclass seats before the flatbeds came.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Trenhotel is the sleeptrain? Oohh? The renfe trainshop next to pilgrim office didn't tell me this. Hmmm:confused:o_O
