Duct tape never looks good no matter what colour you choose. Look out for tent repair tape in your local outfitters. I've use a similar product to THIS not on my Altus but on a similar poncho - still good after several years.Greetings all, I have a 4 inch rip in my Atlus rain poncho and am wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to fix it. I am thinking duct tape, but there may be better ideas. Thank you in advance.

Clean and dry the area on both sides of the material and use a length of the tape on both sides too. Go about an inch past the point where the rip stops.
Duct tape on the inside of the tear. Work a like a treat for emergency repairsMore information about the location of the rip might get more useful answers...there are holes and there are holes in fabrics.
The care tag in my Altus says no iron - you might end up creating more holes than you'd be happy with !In sewingshops they often sell some goretexfabric bits that you can iron on .
That's the one I use, didn't know you could get it in the Americas - comes in a hand tube so you can carry it with you - good for reinforcing wear points on backpacks too.I checked out several articles on repairing tents that mentioned using this tape

You do it from the backside with a kitchentowel or som other piece of cotton cloth in between.The care tag in my Altus says no iron - you might end up creating more holes than you'd be happy with !
If the ripped fabric has DWR coating, even the coolest iron will ruin it. And after I tried to press a seam in treated nylon oxford cloth, once, I decided to ever after stick to finger-pressing. I have some tape for repairing tents. The hardware store calls it material or fabric tape. It is a woven tape. This is in Australia.
