I really want to do this camino in April but only for a week. How long does it take to get from irun to bilbao? I know this section is quite hard but my thighs are used to the Basque mountains now! I want to go fairly steady possibly 20km a day maybe 30 tops.

Should i book hostels in advance???

Thankyou again

Irun - Bilbao - 7 stages (last is 11 km), and 150 km. Look here for the stages and profile of the stages (Ver perfil de la etapa) - https://www.gronze.com/camino-norte. The stages are up and down!!

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

150kms in a week is eminently 'do-able'

a bit tight, if your top is 20 a day, then you will have to push it. You will find a bit of tarmac as you cross towns, but it is not too much. A lovely camino, but a week with days around 20 km does not add up, in my opinion. Take the first day; you can do either 16 to San Juan, or else 25 to San Sebastian, and it is a particularly demanding stage, particularly if it rains and it gets muddy.
1) if you stay in San Juan, the next day is either 9 to San Sebastian, or 23 to Orio, and it is also quite physical
2) if you stay in Donosti, it is 23 to Zarautz

And so on... there are not so much of a choice for albergues or towns, so it will be tough.

This sayd, it is a gorgeous camino, of course.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
