Throughout western Europe May 1 is the holiday Labour Day. Since May 1, 2022, falls on a Sunday, May 2 will also be a holiday.

In Spain this holiday is called Dia del Trabajo, in Portugal it is Dia do Trabalho and in France it is la Fête du Travail.

Many people will be traveling just before and following this date. Reservations will be a must wherever/however you travel.

Be prepared and Buen camino.

Dear MSpath.. thank you for that timely information. I will assume a lot of museums etc will be closed on May 2nd, in that case. Too bad.. I was leaving that extra day for sightseeing in Pamplona.

Some places might be using a special holiday schedule. Try to check on line before you set out. In Pamplona there is lots to see/enjoy just walking about.

Many museums are closed on Mondays in Spain anyway. Some do have summer schedules and are open. Check online before you visit.
