Leaving luggage

I'm sure this topic has been discussed before, but I can't find any references to it.
I'm planning to fly into Madrid, en route to start walking at Burgos.
I would need to leave some clothing etc in Madrid for my return. In this age of worries about terrorism, is there anywhere to leave luggage for a month or so? Quite happy to pay.
In happier days, there were "left luggage" services at railway stations.

We will be doing the same next year - flying into Madrid and have to leave luggage there for a couple of weeks.

Luggage can be left at the airport (you can go to Madrid airport website - don't know how to post a link  )

This is taken from their website ( http://airwise.com/airports/europe/MAD/index.html)

Left Luggage facilities are available in two areas, but there are no lockers inside the terminals.

The larger of the two facilities (370 lockers) is at ground level opposite Terminal 1, Arrivals Lounge 2. Large and small lockers are provided. Passport or identification cards are required and bags are security checked.
The second facility (110 lockers) is located on the connecting walkway between Terminal 2 and Car Park 2.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Size Period Cost per day

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Small Lockers 1 day € 2.65
2-15 days € 3.30
After 15 days € 0.66

Large Lockers 1 day € 2.65
2-15 days € 4.65
After 15 days € 1.33

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Baggage storage works on a system of keys and tokens which can be confusing. Be patient when opening the locker - it does work eventually.

Hope this helps.

I don't know about public lockers at the airport. What I'm doing is leaving a small bag of items that I won't need on the Camino (fresh change of clothes, a book & the like) at my hotel. The hotel I'm staying at this time is Hotel Plaza D'Ort & they said it was okay to leave a bag there until I return. I made 2 reservations there--one for my first night (jet lag) & one for my return (day before my flight home). A single with bath is 40 euro/night. I also left some things at Hotel Ateneo (the hotel I stayed at in May) & it was kept in a locked room with other stored bags, so I presume Plaza d'Ort will do the same.

Many thanks for that information, which is most useful.

I had not thought of leaving a suitcase with a hotel. It has the added advantage of making me go back to Madrid, which is a pleasant thought indeed!

Cheers, Tony
