Camino Francés Sept. 2017
Camino Portugués May-June 2019
Hello! A friend and I are doing the Camino Frances in September and plan to be in Santiago by mid October. We should have 7 to 10 days at the end to do some traveling before returning to Madrid for the flight back to the US on Oct 28. We want to bring some extra clothes and either send them to Ivar or send a suitcase from SJPP. The later option seems a bit pricey so my question is...does anyone know much is postage per kilo? We would probably send a box from either Madrid or Pamplona.
We are nervous and excited and obsessively making plans, so any little bit of information to ease our minds would be helpful. I will be celebrating my 62nd birthday during our Camino so I am not exactly a youngster (just young at heart).
Thank you.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
Correos calculates the cost based on size and weight. A guestimate for shipping a "normal" suitcase (check-in size) that weight 20kg would be around €30,- (shipping within Spain).

I found this here:

....so it looks like it is €23,99 for up to 15kg.. then €1,10 per each extra kilo. I think the max is 25 or 30kg.

This is PAQ48, that should take 48 hours. Spanish post office works great, I have never had problems with them over the last 4 years working with them.

If you send from SJPP (France), the cost goes way up. Maybe the double... The french postal system works great.. but if there is a problem with any shipment... their customer service is pretty much non-existent. They ask you to stop by a french post office (and that is problematic is you are in Santiago looking for your parcel). Last year I started working with SendMyBag.com that seems to have a good ciustomer service. More on my serice here:

Please note that if you are not storing it for very long, you can also send it to the post office in Santiago. They do not charge you for the first 14 days of storage. Then €1,-/day (at least this is how they had it set up last year).

My service has a cost (see link above), but is a bit more personalized.

Buen camino!

Thank you everyone for the information. It was very helpful.
I do plan to mail the stuff before we get to SJPP to avoid international postage. We will have to store it for almost 30 days so will probably send it to you Ivar. I can't imagine our stuff weighing more than 5 kg, so this seems the best option. I have read very positive comments about your service.
See you in October.
Saludos, Charlotte
