I have a token that I think I need to put down and walk away from. We will join the CF after the Cruz de Ferro. Is there a place similar on the way to SdC? Or perhaps the place will make itself known? I’m a bit sad tonight for whatever reason but so happy in anticipation of our Camino in May. Thanks in anticipation for thoughts from this lovely community

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

Like you wrote : perhaps the place will make itself known.Could be any object you find on the way.Or maybe it becomes clear that you do not feel the need to put the token down.
It is all good and fine the way it goes.

Buen camino!

Not sure where you are starting and how soon you will want to “let go” of your stone…

As others suggest you may spontaneously be led to put it down before you reach

Monument to the Pilgrim on Monte do Gozo in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

However, if I was then finishing in SdC I think, here on this site, might be a good place. It is not a designated place to do so, but if I had a simple rock or stone, and was starting after Astorga, that is where I might put it.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
In 2017 I walked with a dear friend who suffered an unspeakable loss. No loss greater. I told him about the tradition of Cruz and the stone. He asked if there was a similar place in Portugal. I told him you will discover your place and know when to lay your stone. One day we walked in a lovely field. I looked behind and saw my friend taking off his pack and kneeling. I knew he found his place. I walked on and a few kilometers further there was a cafe. I ordered a coffee and sat outside and waited. About an hour later he came. We hugged tightly. We have been dear friends for 50 years. I went inside and bought us coffee and a few Pastel de Natas and sat there quietly for a long while. When he was ready we got up and kept walking. We never spoke of what happened, no need. He found his spot and so will you.
