I wanted to post this elsewhere but it would not let me!

I did a 60 minute walk this morning listening to Paul Potts (he was the winner of Youv'e Got Taletnt in the UK)
on my IPod.What to do you listen to?

Has anyone any particular music to influcence/motivate them for the Camino?

I do like to walk with music of some description - what do you like?

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
Paul Potts would seem like an ideal 'walking' companion.

At the moment I am captivated by Pavorotti and Eric Clapton singing "Holy Mother".

......... not Pavarotti at his best .... I prefer him singing in Italian but the song's message is so lovely. He is singing in English and I had to look up the lyrics !! Wish I could roll my r's the way he does !

I would like to hear of popular spanish singers. This would be helpful towards 'tuning' my ears into the tones de espanol.

Gracias.

For some beautiful Spanish sounds that come directly from the Camino (wild, yearning, Celtic), your first stop should be Carlos Nunez. One of Spain's best gaita (Spanish bagpipe) players, he collaborates on his first two albums with a whole range of Spanish, Portuguese, Basque and Galician performers - not to mention Ry Cooder, the Chieftains and Jackson Browne. You should be able to find Brotherhood of Stars or Os Amores Libres in the World Music section of any good music store as he is distributed internationally by RCA. You can also see several of his performances on Youtube.

Though, come to think of it, a lot of Nunez's songs are instrumentals! So maybe not the greatest source for the sounds of the language... But get the albums anyway, you won't be sorry.

To hear the dulcet tones of Gallego, the language of Galicia (about halfway between Spanish and Portuguese), give a listen to "Chove en Santiago" (It rains in Santiago) by the Galician group Luar na Lubre, based on a poem by Federico Lorca. It's a bewitching performance and if you fall in love with the song I can post the lyrics. There's a link to the video on my blog for August 7th.

... had visitors from Norway last week, and we walked old town after dark. When we walked onto the Plaza do Obradoiro, these guys were playing... no-one on the square was looking at the cathedral... everyone was enjoying the music and the laughter. Great fun!

Un saludo,
Ivar

I've got a CD of theirs, bought when I was in Santiago in the summer of 2005, it's great and brings back many happy memories

There's an spanish pilgrim and cantautor (that means that he write and sing his own songs). He has publish three disks about the Camino.

He has written songs for many popular singers in Spain.

His name is Jose Maria Maldonado and he lives in Seville.

Buen Camino, with music of course.
