Hi Jeff! I live in Omaha and walked the Camino Frances in August - September 2016. You will love it. Do you hike/walk much now? Train by walking with your pack, with weight in it, and even though it’s tough in Omaha and Des Moines, find steep hills if possible. A lot of the Camino is up and down! Figure out if you like boots or trail running shoes. And read a lot on this forum- there is a lot of really good information. Buen Camino!

Hi Kathy, thanks for the advice. I do hike, swim and bike quite frequently, weather permitting. I have hiked/backpacked for the last 4 years and prefer trail shoes. I hope you don't live too close to the river.
