The refusal of the Castilla y Leon grant of 145,000 euros for the improvement project and signaling to Santiago has come as a real jug of cold water.

All the team of Government and the Association of Friends of the Camino de Santiago hoped that the fine words of the Commissioner of the Way and the Minister of Culture would come to fruition. "The media picked up on the statements of its day and another one in stating that the money for the Way of Bayonne would be even higher and now we find that we are denied the grant. Now I understand why the commissioner was not put on the phone when we called these days, "explained Mayor Fernando Campo. Regidor.
The refusal of the Board was based on economic criteria.

I think this section of camino is out in Miranda del Duero, on the Camino de Lana I think. About 15 people a year walk it. I have to wonder who thought they needed 145,000 Euro to put up signs out there. Yellow paint isn´t quite that pricey.

it's what the CSJ call the Tunnel route, but the (historically more important) Burgos branch rather than the one going to Sto Domingo. It's supposedly already well-marked with yellow arrows, tho I too am amazed at how much governments manage to spend (or in this case not spend) to achieve so little.

Mundicamino is currently setting up a guide to this route, tho I think their title of Via de Bayona is rather misleading, as it doesn't have much to do with Bayonne.
