Time of past OR future Camino
Pamplona to Logrono - June 2014
Good afternoon
My dad and I are walking four days from Pamplona to Logrono starting May 30th. We have pre-booked accommodation in Pamplona on May 29th and then Puente de la Reina, Estella, Los Arcos & Logrono. We have one way car hire booked from Bilbao Airport to Pamplona and from Logrono to Bilbao Airport on the way back. My dad is a fit 70 year old. We are first timers on the Camino.
Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Seamus, take it nice and easy and enjoy every step. Have good boots, rain gear and all will be fine.
Have a safe and wonderful Camino.
Buen Camino.
Pat.

It does not take a long walk to be injured, so don't be lulled into complacency by the idea that you, and others, could be walking further. Act your age, and take it easy! :) (I am not quite 70)

Have fun, of course...

I took my first bite of the apple at the age of 65 walking from SJPdP to Logrono in 9 days with zero preparation, no guidebook and a backpack smaller than my sleeping bag. I had blisters bigger than..., well let's just say I had blisters. I learned about Vaseline, liner socks, proper shoes and pacing myself in those 9 days. Now 3 years later and some 1200 km smarter, I'm ready to start the entire CF again in 2 weeks.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm specifically worried about the first day and the climb to Alto de Perdon. I'm also a little concerned about the recent wet weather even though us Irish people are more than familiar with this. I think I need to repack my backpack to include more wet gear??

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Unfortunately we had to cancel our trip earlier today. Our Camino was for the intention of my seriously ill sister but her condition has worsened considerably in recent days so we could not travel.
Buen Camimo

Seamus I am sorry. My thoughts for you, your father and your family as you support and love your sister.

So sorry to hear that, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family! Remember, whom the Camino has called once, it will call again. In this sense, Buen Camino! SY
