Planning on next September

Hello. My friend and I want to make the pilgrimage from Leon to SdC next September. We are seniors (about 70) and are interested in tours that would allow us to walk an average of 10 - 15 km per day. Having some one arrange hotel accommodations and set up meals, etc. is important. Can anyone had experience with and can recommend some tour operators? Would be delighted to hear any other remarks or suggestions to make our decision.
Thanks JohnK

Hi John,

Welcome on this board......
Your question about tour-operators did start a lot of thinking inside my head... I'll explain:
1) I know that everyone walks his/her own camino no matter how you do it
2) Walking the Camino Frances last year did give me a wonderful experience with much contacts with all kind of people.
3) When doing the Camino I noticed by myself a lot of irritation about the loaded buses with so-called peregrino's (that's how I named them) who where "released" a few kilometers before the refugio with just a little day-backpack and who were occupying the best beds before the "real" peregrino's arrived.

In the meantime I learned my lessons at the Camino and doesn't judge about that anymore (all the other things in life..I still do ...shame on me :) .

So why not plan your Camino by yourself? And take some hostals/hotels instead of the refugio's. I've seen more people of your age doing it !!
And you can easily split the etappes in an average 10-15 km: between Leon and SdC there's plenty of possibilities for sleeping.

I realise that I did not answer your question....sorry about that!

Greetings from Holland!

Hi and welcome John,

I do not have any personal experience using any of these companies, but I know that they have been around for a while.

Have a look at:

http://www.spanishsteps.com/

and

euroadventures.net:
Pilgrim walk url: http://tinyurl.com/d6gxw

It seems like http://www.spanishsteps.com has experience and are starting to sell out tours for September next year (have a look at their "Walks and Prices" page). Don't know much about them. Looks like they have an office in Aspen (Colorado) and also some people here in Spain.

EuroAdventurs is run by a Canadian guy living in Vigo (here in Galicia). I have talked to him several times, and I know he is a great guy. I am not sure if he contracts out these tours, you might contact him and ask for some more information.

Sorry for not being more concrete. If anyone has any personal experience with a company that do these guided tours it would be nice to hear from them here.

Un saludo,
Ivar
