Poles

I was very fortunate to be alerted to PACERPOLES which I would highly recommend - the video instructions available online teach you how to maximise the use of poles. This was invaluable for the many many steep, rocky assents and descents! http://pacerpole.com
So many people seems to use poles so I effectively - these, because of careful
Design do create an extra pair of legs for you!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I had the traditional poles and had used them for years. I bought Pacerpoles after I broke my arm. I was worried that the wrist straps on my old ones with the normal design might cause pain on the break site, just under the wrist strap area. So after reading all the rave reviews I bought myself a set of Pacerpoles, because of the very different design of right hand grip. Am I a fan? Yes and no. I think the handle is fantastic. I think the technique in the instructions is great. But I really miss the spring tip of my old ones. After a few hundred km I get a slight but annoying jarring through my wrists and hands that I never had before. I've written to the Pacerpole maker but she just says read the instructions. I've checked my technique and I'm confident that I'm following the instructions. I've now now done several hundred km with my Pacerpoles so I've given them a good workout. Any feedback from other people who have used both would be really interesting.

I love my Pacer Poles. I had never used poles before my first Camino last year, so I thought that the idiot proof Pacer Poles would be best for me. I gave my original pair to my sister and upgraded to the new dual lock model.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

I love Pacer Poles also but didn't want to put them in barrels at the end of the day for several reasons so I got Black Diamond Z poles because they fit inside my pack.

Was interested at one stage but then I found out they aren’t for short a$$es like me. You do have to hunt for this information but it is on their website. The minimum recommended height is 160 cm or 5’3” and the maximum is 188 cm or 6’2”. Worth noting before shipping for anyone else who may be vertically challenged. :):):)
