Preventing Blisters

Hello all, I will be starting the Camino from SJPDP on 29 September and have been doing some training walks up to about 18kms with 12 kilo pack. I have found that wearing 2 pairs of socks, (One thin inner sock and the a pair of wool socks over these), feet come up roses, OK well maybe not roses but no hot spots or blisters etc. The theory is that instead of feet rubbing againgst loose sock or shoe, one sock rubs against the other and hense no blister.

All I know is that it seems to work very well. If you're prone to blisters give it a go beofre you start.

Hola Pablo

I did Wainwright's Coast to Coast last year (190 miles in 30 - 35 degree heat) and had a miserable time with blisters in the middle of it.

Subsequently, I've tried this technique and, although I'll need more evidence yet, it seems to work for me too. I did three consecutive days of 15 miles last weekend and not a blister nor a hotspot to talk about. Like I say, more evidence needed but I'm optimistic it might be the answwer.

Buen camino.

Pablo, You might avoid blisters but carrying a 12 kg pack is asking for trouble

Yep I agree , I wont be carrying that much. Its just that my training walks have been fairly short therefore I have used a little more weight. But wouldn't want to carry that much for 770kms.
