Time of past OR future Camino
May 2023 (Primitivo), October 2023 (St. Jaume)
Is anyone on the Primitivo right now or has been recently? I am wondering if it is less mussy this year with the drought. meant to be heading out in a few weeks and trying to decide between my hiking shoes and my trail runners!

Thanks!

I'm on the San Salvador. Passed some snow in the high areas near 1500m on my way to Pajares. Due snow melt, there were some areas of water cascading on the trail or crossing it. In general, not bad at all. I'm wearing trail shoes. Only time they got wet was when I sunk into mud covered by leaves in a woody stretch.

Good to know thanks! What are you wearing?

Hoka Mafate 3 trail runners. Hoka came out with version 4 - change for the worse. Bought two more pairs of Mafate 3 at a discount. Using current pair for Mozarabe (finished Mar 25), San Salvador (current), and Primitivo (starting on Monday). I'll know more about the Primitivo next week.

Great! Can't wait to hear abut it thanks.

We did the Primitivo a few weeks ago (March 3 - 12). Although the weather was not the best (driving rain and wind for over half the days) there was not too much mud. The day after Pola through the hills had a foot of snow over 1000m which had not yet melted. Much of this may be gone now. Did not do the Hospitales variant due to fog (zero visibility) and wind/rain. Trail runners will probably be fine.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Great thanks! I have settled on the runners, they fit me the best.
