Requesting Information about Parroquial Alberges

Time of past OR future Camino
September 2014 Leon-Santiago de Compostella
Folks,

I have seen the list of alberges provided by the forum (Very helpful, thanks to whomever composed it). This list includes ALL types of alberges. What I'm looking is for a list of just the albergerges which are been run out of churches or religious orders. Any help would be appreciated.

Deacon Harbey Santiago,

To begin you research here is my personal inventory of monasteries along the CF which accept pilgrims.

Amongst these examples are successful and poor examples of architectural adaptive re-use, retro fitting and contemporary additions. Much to view and ponder. For location info and basic photos see the Eroski site Etapas and albergues . For more personal comments and /or photos see each location as cited in my Camino Gazetteer. For more info on Benedictine monasteries see here.

Roncevalles, three albergues; the new, the old and the winter, in monastery structures
Trinidad de Arre, in a monastery garden
Carracedo del Monasterio, albergue, in monastery grounds
Samos, Albergue del Monasterio de Samos, in monastery wing
Sarria, albergue Monasterio de la Magdalena, in monastery wing

Two other monasteries which are not listed on Eroski are
Rabanal del Camino, San Salvador de Monte Irago monastery at this site
and north of Melide, Sobrado dos Monxes, Santa Maria do Sobrado monastery at this site

Buen Camino,

Margaret Meredith

The All Albergues list from the forum resources identifies parochial albergues with "Par" within the Type column. I you want to filter this down to only parochials, contact @BlackDog (the co-creator of the list) and ask him for the Excel version, which you can edit as desired. Alternately, PM me and I'll send you a copy.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Check out the listings on the Acogida Christiana en el Camino website. Not all the "Christian" albergues are listed, but most of the are.

And then there is Grañon , Tosantos, Viana, the Parroquial in Logroño and Emmaus in Burgos, just to mention a few more! Anne

Not all "parrochial" facilities have a Christian character, however -- that's only a sign of ownership. Some "monastic" places are run by laypeople, and you never see a monk or nun at all. Others are full of symbolism and worship opportunities. Still more are run by a single pious person or two who do not wear their religion on their sleeves.
You will find out once you get here.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
