The challenge "42x18: A Santiago cancer", in which athletes Madrid fans run continuously the Camino de Santiago, began today with the first two relievers from the Navarra town of Roncesvalles.
PAMPLONA.A total of 24 runners will run non-stop from now until Sunday 756 kilometers from Roncesvalles to Santiago de Compostela in order to raise funds for the Aladina Foundation, which provides comprehensive support for children with cancer and their families.
The initiative involves athletes to run 42 miles without stopping at every stage, equivalent to a marathon distance, for 18 consecutive steps for four days to reach Santiago on Sunday.
Runners Rafael Conde and Rafael Morán have come punctually at 10.00 heading for Pamplona to Roncesvalles, where early in the afternoon pass the baton to Javier SantamarĂa, who will run until Villatuerta.
From this town will pick up the slack until Viana Miguel Matias Barreiro, where Manuel Froiz run from two-thirty in the morning to leave the navarro pilgrimage of Santiago, reported EFE organizing this initiative.
The challenge is to take the Camino de Santiago French nonstop, day and night and in all weather conditions, from ten o'clock Wednesday until 13.00 next Sunday, an initiative arising athletes Triathlon Club Las Rozas in their quest to make a unique and integral character sporting challenge.
