Camino Portugues (2016)
We were hoping to take 2 days to trek from Santarem to Golega. The 32 to 36 km, depending on who you read, may be a little to long for a couple of seniors. Is there a reasonably priced albergue along this route somewhere in between these two towns?

Hello. I walked this route in May this year. The stage you mention is very pretty but a long stroll.
There are accommodation options in Azinhaga but I am not sure how much they cost. From memory they weren't albergues and I don't recall seeing any other accommodation facilities prior to Azinhaga.

I do know that some ladies organised to be picked up about 10km from Golega by the owners of the albergue they stayed at in Golega - I am pretty sure it was called Solo Duro albergue.

I hope that helps.

Hi, Keyfoo kid, take a look at the guide in the Resources section, https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/resources/lisbon-to-porto-2015-version.298/

It was done by forum members and is updated annually with input from people who have walked.

There is also a document that gives suggestions on breaking up the longer stages at the beginning.

That document has not been updated to reflect the fact that there is now an albergue in Alpriate, 20 km from the cathedral. So the first day is now taken care of !

Three places in azinhaga I know of. Stayed in one, pitoresque but musty place. Luckily now there are alternatives in the same village.
See lauries guide for details. No need to do it all in one day from santarem to golega.
