Santiago midnight arrival. looking to start early next day

Hi All,

I am arriving into Santiago at midnight and am looking for a hotel in around the airport where I can get to the bus station for Lugo early in the morning. Travelling in April, tuesday (arriving tuesday midnight) to tuesday so only 6 days. Looking to start the last portion of the Camino from Sarria on Wednesday Midday/afternoon.

Is this possible/advisable? Are there any hotels near the Airport? Are there any pick up points for the Bus to Lugo on this side of the city?

All help welcome.

Thanks,

Anne

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
There is not much near the airport. I have eaten at Amenal, which is new and clean, and easier to walk to than drive to. A midnight arrival is a problem anywhere. Choices seem to be:

Hotel Ruta Jacobeo
Carretera Lavacolla, 41
15820 Santiago de Compostela, Spain
981 888 211
rjacobea.com‎

Hotel Ciudad de Vacaciones Monte Do Gozo
Avenida Aeropuerto Lavacolla, S/N
15820 Santiago de Compostela, Spain
981 558 942

Hotel Garcas
Carretera Noval, 2
15820 Santiago de Compostela, Spain
981 888 225

Restaurant Hotel Amenal
Castrofeito
Amenal, 12, 15821 O Pino, España

Hostal San Paio

The trip from the airport to Santiago (taxi is about €20) takes about 15 minutes. The busstation where the bus to Lugo goes from, is in Santiago... so if it was me I would reserve a place by the bus station.

There are 2 or 3 hotels close to the airport (you still need a taxi), but they are not really any good...

Buen Camino!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I would take Ivar's advice, too!!

While there is a bus or two that goes from the airport to Lugo, there are a dozen from the bus station. I don't think there are any buses from the airport into Santiago that late, so you may have to go by taxi. The Hostal LaSalle, which is not downtown, is reasonable, near the bus station, stays open late, and will call a taxi for you if you don't want to walk to the bus station in the morning.

I've stayed at Hostal LaSalle a couple of times and can vouch for it. It's very nice, with friendly staff.

Thank you for all the helpful advice. I will probably go with Hostal la Salle, but while browsing I found a hotel which seems nearer to the bus station and was wondering does it come with any recommendations. It is Hotel capital de Galicia. Any thoughts?
Thanks again.
Anne.
