Santiago to Sarria

Hi--

I will be walking in May/June next year, and my husband is joining me for the Sarria to Santiago leg. I'm assuming (please correct me if I'm wrong) that getting to Sarria is easiest from Santiago. (Santiago is also preferable so he can stash our luggage since we will be doing some additional travel in Spain)

So my question is what is the best (and cheapest) way to get to Sarria. I looked at one or two of the bus websites, and couldn't find Sarria, but confess I'm lazy so I didn't work too hard at it. I thought I would ask the experts.

Is there a bus or is taxi the only option? How much does it run?

Thanks--as always--for your help.

Rene

Hi, Rene,

I know this topic has come up a lot. If you search the archives, I bet you'll find lots of information on this. I know there are buses that go from Santiago to Lugo, then you can change to one that goes to Sarria.

But Monbus also has a route that goes from Santiago through Lalin, Chantada and Monforte de Lemos to Sarria -- the advantage is that no change is required.

Looks like there's one bus a day (M-F only), at 6 pm, and it takes 3 hours. I don't know if the way through Lugo would be quicker, but I doubt it.

My husband took a taxi. It cost ± 110 € but he was able to share with another pilgrim.
You can take a bus to Lugo and a bus to Sarria from there (only half an hour from Lugo).
