Time of past OR future Camino
Some but not all, and other routes too.
Not leaving for another 3 months, but thought I'd ask this question. When I get to SdC I thought I'd take a day or two relaxing, not sure when I'll get arrive, but I imagine it will be sometime in Oct, or if I really get lost sometime in Nov.
I haven't booked a flight home and won't do that until I actually arrive in SdC, but having endured basic accommodation for however many weeks a modicum of luxury might be in order.
Does anyone have any recommendations (not too posh, I'll still be on some sort of budget)?

You might try a comfortable tourist room in San Martin Pinario which is wonderfully situated on the north side of thr cathedral. Here is their web. They also offer a pilgrim albergue floor with simple accommodation in unchanged seminarian cells.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
A Casa Do Peregrino is a nice pensiones about 200 meters from the Cathedral in Santiago. It's literally on the Camino as you approach the plaza. That was my reward accommodations when I finished my first Camino.

I agree with Margaret. San Martin Pinario has private pilgrim rooms you can rent for very little but you need to make reservations. If you'd like the email address, please PM me.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Thank you all for the links, they all look very inviting. I will troll the websites and see what best suits.
I'm amazed at the information we get from a simple post, to me this ism what this forum is all about. I hope in the future I can assist other future pilgrims as I have been helped here.

Altair...it's a boutique hotel; wonderful staff, and a wonderful place. Small, quiet, veeeery comfortable, and close enough to the cathedral to be easy walking, but far enough away to be out of the bustle.

and then there is the AC Palicio........I stayed there on Marriot points last year. Stayed in the same room that Martin Sheen stayed in for weeks....

My wife and I stayed already 3 times in,
Hotel Pazo de Altamira
Rua Altamira 18
Great place, friendly staf and exelent food. And it is in the old town, not far from the cathedral.

I second Hotel Altair. Boutique hotel with same owners as the Costa Vella. Only 10 rooms. I have stayed there twice. Luxury for a reasonable price.

My tip: Hotel Virxe da Cerca, member of the Pousada de Compostela group.
Intimate, beautiful garden and generous rooms in a 18th century setting. Friendly, multilingual staff and very reasonable cost (stayed there twice).
Booking direct or via www.booking.com

(Btw: The group is owned and run by a catholic institution and is known for its charitable contributions to good causes.)
I stayed there on my arrival in Santiago and it was wonderful. I would like to stay there again next time too.

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.

I am doing the same thing Waka. I begin in SJpdp the first week in August, and have not booked a flight home, wanting to really get into my own pace. You asked all the questions I wanted answers to, and the forum members gave all the answers. Live is grand!
