Is it possible to leave the camino
along the coast to visit Barcelos and then return to the coast to continue? At what point it is best to leave the camino? I am also interested in visiting Braga and other interesting cities along the camino de la Costa. I could walk or take transportation. Thank you.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
It is. there are local busses (about 40 minutes) form Povoa de Varzim, Esposende or Viana do Castelo to Barcelos, depending on how early you want to leave the coast. From Barcelos to Braga busses run about every half hour. Very easy to find in Barcelos. They have big, graphic signboards with all the bus routes listed.
You can walk from Braga to Ponte de Lima to resume your camino (35+ kms), or take a bus back to Barcelos to on to Ponte de Lima from there (a little shorter). Barcelos has a huge weekly market full of every kind of Galo de Barcelos you could ever imagine, and much else. it's a fun day to visit.

You are a life saver. Thank you so much for the information. I am leaving to Porto tomorrow (Monday 15th and my plan is to go from Porto to Santiago as much as possible by the coast (i am following Gronze's itinerary as much as possible), but I and was day dreaming about the possibility of these side trips to visit these cities. I am not interested in leaving the coast too early. In fact, I dont want to miss any of it and probably will try to move out and comeback to where I left. Thanks again.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I love Markets! I will have to plan my days to get there Wednesday. Thanks

In Viana do Castelo you can take the train to Barcelos About 40 minutes single journey
i’ve done it many times Even you could go to Braga by train you have to change in a place called Nine . From Viana take the train in the direction of Porto .

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Thanks I will. I was told I can make my move out of my Camino portugués por la costa) to Barcelos and ( hopefully Braga) at different places: Povoa de Varzin, Esposande and Viana do Castelo. I still haven't decided where. I want to be able to leave and return to continue . I have time. So I can leave and return as needed. Have to look at the map.
Thank you all for your words of wisdom.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hi everyone, Just looking for some advice whether you think it would be better to start in Vigo or Tui? We have previously walked Sarria to Santiago in 5 days so hoping to do something similar...
