Hello,

I will be walking the camino frances starting May 22nd. I tried to find advice on the correct sleeping back temperature, but couldn't find any. Is a sleeping bag with comfort temp 20 degrees celcius and limit 15 enough given it will be May and hot? Or should I go with the 15 degrees comfor and 7 degrees limit?

Thank you

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
We will also be walking about that time and will only take a silk liner bag. You can put on socks or a few more clothes inside the bag if you need something warmer.

Around that time i was using the lightes "proper" sleeping bag i could get my hands on. For most nights, i was to warm rather than to cold. One night, it could have been warmer, but i could have worn more cloth and used blankets to counter that. Many people opt for only a liner, but i tend to sleep cold and i am no fan of the blankets. But extremely unlikely weather aside, you'll be fine with the lightest sleeping bag.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Quite a lot of places no longer have blankets available. I would not make my plans assuming they will be on hand.
Fair enough. But combined chances of a start in late may, seriously cold temperatures, no heating and no blankets... I'd take my bet.

edit: said night was at the rather special Tosanto albergue of Jose Luis.... sleeping on a thin matress on the floor might also have been a factor.

edit 2: Cumulus states my sleeping bag at a comfort of 13°C, but they tend to be optimistic about that.

yes, agreed. starting CF may 2 & only using silk liner. perhaaps a light fleece blanket that could double as a privacy screen. weighs less than sleeping bag.
