Stay over rest days

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
If I wish to have a rest day say in Léon will the Albergue allow me to stop for an extra night?

From what I've read most albergues won't let you stay an extra night without some sort of medical reason. People who want to stay an extra day in Burgos or Leon generally seem to use a hotel for the second night.

The answer is - or was - yes, in 2005. There are several albergues in Leon, and I stayed over at the one run by the Benedictine nuns. There's also an albergue that operates as a hostel for travelers as well, and you can stay there for many nights if you like. Here's that one: http://caminodesantiago.consumer.es/albergue-residencia-fundacion-ademar

Private albergues will often let you stay an additional night, without requiring illness or injury; it's the municipal ones that don't.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

I think the nuns still let you stay an extra night. They certainly did in 2010, when the first night was donativo and the second 6 euros.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Usually municipal (or Xunta in Galicia) and parochial albergues won't let you stay another night unless for medical reasons. But in private ones that can be arranged. It's actually the same with reservations in those albergues. But I remember that in Burgos albergue staff would let me stay another night if they've had spare bed. I just had to wait until 5PM. I guess it's best if you ask :)

Ultreia!
