This is for pilgrims that like sweets.. cakes.

I bought this “Tarta de Mondoñedo” today. It is my favorite.

What kind of cake is it?

You will pass Mondoñedo on the Camino del Norte. Just saying… :)

Love the link @ivar - It has my favourite - Polish Kremowka ;)

This forum is beset by multiple personality disorder - I just read a thread about training and losing weight before a camino, and now this.
Something for everyone, I guess.😎

(This sounds positively deadly. How did I never encounter it? Fortunately. You could probably get diabetes just by looking at it too long.)

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

I'd not heard of it but I know that I'd like it because I like all the ingredients. I suppose that it's similar to a bakewell tart which is delicious - pastry then raspberry jam then frangipane then flaked almonds on top.

Delicious sounding pastry, and what a wonderful website! I just randomly put in a few countries and it brought up such delicious things that I've never heard of. Yes, something else I'm going to have to research when I am travel planning…

Oh can taste this treat! We had a rest day in Mondenedo in June this year - tried to resist this gastronomic delight, so pleased I gave in to temptation! Thank you for the memories Ivar.

It’s odd, because the recipe says pasta, but it’s definitely made with the squash. Maybe they converted it for those who cannot access this ingredient?

Translator's mistake, more likely. Even more so if you are used to sweet dishes made with Capelli d'Angelo from Italy.

If the author had wanted to offer a replacement, spaghetti squash would have been the best option.

Here's a recipe from Chile:
