The Cost of flying from Santiago to Paris

Hey all,

My brother, my friend and I are all hiking the trail and we are super excited, but...we aren't sure about transportation back to Paris from Santiago. My flight leaves on the 31st of July back to the states from Paris, so I need to be in Santiago by the 30th. We are, however, not absolutely certain about the day we will arrive in Santiago, so that date may be closer to the 25th. If this is the case, we will travel a bit around the area and see a few sights. I would wait, as it will afford us much more freedom, but right now the tickets are roughly $100. I understand that July is a very busy time on the camino, so here is the question:

How much will plane tickets cost from Santiago to Paris toward the end of July? Does anyone know?

Hi, Kyle,

The cheapest on July 30th I found for 55€ with Vueling:

Hi Kyle,

You'd definitely have to book in advance...

For example: the cheapest last minute flight for this weekend (which is still only April) is $550 for an indirect flight with Vueling, and with direct flights closer to $700... I know it's the tail-end of Easter, but I fear it will be much the same or even worse in July, which is the height of European summer holidays, and no doubt many pilgrims will have a similar idea to you.

If you want to leave it to the last minute you'd have better luck travelling a bit outside of Galicia and leaving from slightly-less-used airports like Oviedo (about 5 hours away by bus, and even booking last-minute for this weekend you can get a direct flight to Paris for under $200)

Well that's kinda what I responded to… did you get my post? ;) (Just in case, I was saying that you won't get a last minute flight in July any cheaper than you would for a last-minute flight this weekend, which is over $700 for a direct trip!)

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Hi, Jan,

Not entirely true and very exagerrated. I've found a week in advance from today RyanAir & EasyJet flight for 105€ (via BCN) and for tomorrow (April 12th) 145€ with Vueling. I really don't know what search engine did you use??? Usually I'm using www.skyscanner.net and later I cross-check it on the specific airline web site.

@ kinkyone - sorry, you're right maybe I was a bit hasty, I only checked for last-minute yesterday and for some reason nothing came up for ryanair/easyjet (so I should have cross-checked), but things indeed seem to be much better a couple of days ahead… Sorry Kyle, maybe it's not as bad as I thought! ;) However I've also had the experience of forking out exorbitant sums getting back to Paris in July, so I still think that, if the OP knows exactly what date he needs to get back, he'd be better off paying €50 or so with Vueling in advance!
