Transporting luggage

When I walked the Wainwright's Coast to Coast a few years ago we arranged for a company called the "White Knights" (mainly retired gentlemen) to transport our luggage from one B&B to the next - leaving us free to carry just a day-pack.
I have read many camino related FAQ which advise that pilgrims who transport their backpacks can't stay at the pilgrim refuges. This is not entirely correct. Many commercial, private albergues (including most of the Red de Albergues) accept reservations and pilgrims with transported luggage. It is mainly the church and municipal sponsored albergues that won't accept pilgrims who have vehicle backup.
You can use the local taxis to take your luggage from one place to the next - or you can use one of these services:

Pamplona to Burgos - Globetrotter Transportes will carry bicycles as well as rucksacks and other equipment Rucksacks cost €7 each per stage.

There is something for everyone on the camino - which is what makes it such a special trail.

Hi,
I run a travel company in Australia & through a personal interest & our specialistation in walking & cycling holidays in Europe & we have developed a new program for the full Camino route from Le Puy in France to Santiago.
Having watched the many walkers struggling under weighty packs & rushing for the last few places at a (not so free) hostel I thought there must be a better way.
So we have established a system to book the Camino week by week over 11 weeks whether you start in Le Puy, Conques, St Jean, Leon or any of the major starting points.
What we offer is pre-booked accommodation (usually 1 or 2-star hotels, baggage transfers (yes we move your bag from hotel to hotel) breakfast & a simple dinner most nights plus some background info on the route, maps etc. We also have a local 'help' service, based in the Pyrenees, so that if you need assistance someone can be called to help - speaking English, French or Spanish.
Yes, I appreciate this is a commercial venture that might not suit genuine pilgrims but for an increasing number of walkers who don't have the time for the weeks that the walk can take this is a way of doing the trip piece by piece, holiday after holiday.
It also helps the enormous number of more elderly walkers who can't carry a pack & who need a minimum level of confort & the security of a confirmed bed & bathroom each night. We help travellers from Australia or anywhere else in the world & our trips can depart on any day (from April to October) with no minimum or maximum numbers. Minimum duration is 1 week (7-nights)
