Villafranca del Bierzo to SDC and beyond

A guide to speaking Spanish on the Camino - enrich your pilgrim experience.
Great news; Buen camino to both of you!

If in Villafranca del Bierzo you wish a bit of private comfort and/or a very good reasonably priced meal with delicious local wine do stop at the Hostal de la Puerta del Perdon. Located on the CF opposite the castle it has always been a VERY comfortable stop especially on cold early winter nights.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Thank you!!! After the flight from Florida, USA a good nights sleep would be in order before we tackle Big "O". I will see if they have accommodations available. Really appreciate the advice. Ed

Albergue Leo in Villafranca is a great old Spanish home. I recommend it. They provided sheets for the beds (can't remember but they may also have provided towels) We were in a 5 bed room with our own en-suite shower room . A lovely family own this place, it's been in their family for years.

Thank you Fleur. I will take an on line look at this. The Puerta del Perdon was very expensive so I am looking for somewhere else. Appreciate your suggestion and I am open for others as well. By the way, what is a nice place to stay on top of O'Cebreiro? Thinking Camas dobles privadas. gracias.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

At Monte de Gozo just before Santiago try the Polish albergue. We had a very good twin room en-suite there. It has a good restaurant on site, with a choice of food at reasonable prices. Afternoon and evening meals BUT no breakfast! From there it's an easy walk into Santiago.
In SdC we had inexpensive, simple, single rooms at the Seminario Menor. Shared washrooms with everyone else.
