LIVE from the Camino What I am so glad we brought!

So far on the Camino Frances as we are staying at the Casa Magic’s in Villavierte which is awesome by the way, I am SO very glad I brought my injingi liners and darn tough cushion socks and wearing the Altras Lone Peak shoes an extra size up with NO blisters! Also love the Macabi skirt, my osprey Sirrus backpack and my towel made from a baby Muslim wrap. The little toilet bag which has a hook for hanging and the shampoo and conditioner bars are great!The little Costco down comforter is slippery but great and warm! The Spanish SIM card for my unlocks I Phone has worked great. I could go on and in but I really owe all of this to all of you guys on this forum who helped us so much to prepare!!!!What I wish I had brought was more experience climbing steep inclines and not just trying to get distance in.This Camino has been a lot of sharp ups and downs so far but I have heard that that gets better soon. Love Spain and all the beautiful scenary and the wonderful fellow pilgrims.

Who told you it gets better soon ? [/Right? Each morning there is another mountain to climb but through the walk so many wonderful people to meet and amazing things that sort of “just happen”. And at the end of the a wonderful meal and deep sleep and for me lots of vivid dreams.

We were told this too, but found the only flat bits were across the mesetta that we cycled across. Other than that, it’s was crazy ups and downs!! But worth every step.

Thank you so much for all of your positive energy!! We leave in three weeks, and as you, we follow this forum daily and have learned so much.

You're correct. Casa Mágica is in Villatuerta. I loved my stay there. I had a great foot and leg massage there too. My friend called it a 5 star albergue.

It is such a good idea to stay in small towns that are not in the usual Brierly stops. But if you stay in Laos Arcos and cannot get a room at Casa Abuela like us, May you be bless d to stay at the Municipal Albuergue Isaac Santiago!!! That have been SUCH a blessing. Am SO glad I have an umbrella as to Day the sun was so hot.

When my son and I reached Los Arcos in the early evening after a 40km day, we found that there was no room in the inn ... any inn or alburgue Well, the Camino provided in the form of Booking.com, and Caleb was able to find the only place still available on the website ... a vacation rental house near the bridge. And it was only 45 Euro for the night.

The owner showed up fairly quickly to let us in and give us the keys; she was sooooo friendly and accommodating and made us feel really at home. She did speak enough English for us to easily communicate. When she saw we were on pilgrimage, she even offered to bring us some dinner from her family's evening meal. We politely thanked her and told her we already had made dinner plans, but when we later returned from an evening walk around Los Arcos and having dinner, we found a big bowl of fresh fruit on the kitchen counter when we got back.

We each had our own bedroom and bathroom; it had a washer, dryer and full kitchen. The huge backyard had large trees with loads of shade and an above ground pool (which we avoided, not knowing how well maintained and sanitized it might have been.)

It was a nice change of pace and a really refreshing and restful break. The next morning I felt the most rested I had been for several days.
