Lat year we walked the Francés from mid-September to early October under hottest circumstances. And not one drop of rain from Roncesvalles to Santiago.
Three years ago we had a mixed experience with heavy rain during the first 10 days of September, and a mixture of cool and dry thereafter.
There just is no way of predicting the weather these days. The website
http://www.aemet.es is a good tool for checking one week ahead of the municipalities which you will pass.
Towards October you should also check which albergues are closing.
