I need to book my flight from the US and am giving myself 6 weeks to walk the Camino Frances with a little extra time for my lack of long distant walking/hiking.
Not a fan of great heat so wondering if starting at the end of September is better than beginning of September? Want to make sure it is not so late in the season that the Pilgrims have left.

Need some feedback.

Lat year we walked the Francés from mid-September to early October under hottest circumstances. And not one drop of rain from Roncesvalles to Santiago.
Three years ago we had a mixed experience with heavy rain during the first 10 days of September, and a mixture of cool and dry thereafter.
There just is no way of predicting the weather these days. The website http://www.aemet.es is a good tool for checking one week ahead of the municipalities which you will pass.
Towards October you should also check which albergues are closing.
As far as pilgrims are concerned you will find the camino still pretty busy well into October. You can check the statistics on http://www.peregrinossantiago.es

Thank you for the help. Funny, after so many other choices to be made my stump is when to leave. Looks like in the end a few weeks one way or another will not make a difference.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Transport luggage-passengers.
From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
Thank you for the help! Booked my flight, leaving on September 10, 2012. Go
