Well, I am always a bit afraid I am simply posting my normal life and this might be not too interesting for others when it gets a bit repetitive. But maybe I underestimate the exoticness-factor of my life situation
Really nice, been there last time 15 years ago. But the loading times with directly embedded images are killing me a bit ;-)This year, apart from the View attachment 138828Camino, I also walked in Sussex and Hampshire, mainly on the South Downs Way
Alex, your pictures and @Martin 888's pictures have almost the same number of bytes in them (although the last of @Martin 888's does have twice as many). The cure, as @SabsP wrote, is to resize the pictures. The biggest of @Martin 888's pictures is about 3,000 by 4,000. One of yours is about 1,500 by 2,000, a quarter of the size. I resized mine before submitting the smaller copies to about 450 by 800, a decent size for web viewing. Somewhat bothersome but in the editing process I often will also crop the photos.Really nice, been there last time 15 years ago. I was more referring to the images loading directly in the thread as opposed to just having them as attachment with a small preview. The latter I can load on demand, the former is loaded automatically when I scroll on this page. If there are many of the former, a thread becomes unusable for those with limited bandwidth.Alex, your pictures and @Glenshiro's pictures have almost the same number of bytes in them (although the last of @Glenshiro's does have twice as many). Alex, my apologies, I'm not sure where my mind was. I messed up. I did make an editorial remark and corrected some mistakes in my previous post.I was more referring to the images loading directly in the thread as opposed to just having them as attachment with a small preview.
I think Alex has the right idea. Here is how I do it, so I'm not 100% sure if it applies universally...I was more referring to the images loading directly in the thread as opposed to just having them as attachment with a small preview.
This is exactly how it works for me. Both on my laptop and on my phone. When you post a picture, you can see it in the main message as you are drafting your post. Simply delete that full-size image from the main message box (by hitting the delete key or backspacing it out), and the big image will disappear. However, it will remain as a thumbnail-size attachment. Then people can click on it to view in full size. (If you "re-size" the full size image in the main box by dragging the corners in, it will not be available as a full size image to others.)
I've resized a few photos. This is how I post photos - I click "attach files" (at the bottom of my post), pick the photo file I want to use, and then click on "insert thumbnail". Full size photos will show up when the thumbnail is clicked.

I loved the picture of your nephew getting his hand wet!A walk with family around Sasamat Lake. A joy with my 2 yr old nephew who walked / ran the whole 6 km!

I was walking along from my house to the apartment of a friend, on the North side of Dublin Bay. Dunlin is the name of the apartment block!Walked along the beach to Blackie Spit, a protected bird migration spot. First sight was of a dark mass on the Spit. A little closer and I could see thousands and thousands of Dunlin, all lined up with precision, facing one direction. Often I've seen them swooping over the water, but never gathered on the land like that.
Lovely moon in the trees!I was walking along from my house to the apartment of a friend, on the North side of Dublin Bay. Dunlin is the name of the apartment block!
I was just too late for the flight of the geese, but I did catch a swoop of seagulls...
Hiked for a week around Iceland in June and then 4 days in Sedona Arizona in OctoberA new year. Looking forward seeing your gorgeous pictures from all over the world.
Thumbnails and resizing the pictures is always nice as not to overload the system here.
What a pity that you didn’t take the opportunity to walk some of the many kilometres of Camino whilst I’m Switzerland!I am currently in the French speaking part of Switzerland seeing family, and I cm going crazy not walking at all except around the village....without proper clothes....can't wait to get back into my winter attire for hiking...it was so warm the other day here, almost 20°C that people were out in shorts!
I will be obliged to return there for family reasons so hiking is a probability. What a pity that you didn’t take the opportunity to walk some of the many kilometres of Camino whilst I’m Switzerland!
Now that is a beautiful looking loaf! ...a bit of butter, a cup of tea...and something I made this morning, walking to and fro in the kitchen.
Peg and I have also visited and walked around Gulf State Park each April for the last half dozen years. Chris has invited us to come down in January and February but there are two problems. Peg would not like returning to New England still in winter. Also, we camp and it is too chilly down there this time of year for that.We always head south for two months as Snowbirds after Christmas to get away from the cold, bleak weather of the Midwest, so once again we are in Orange Beach on the Gulf Coast of Alabama.
I see a sunspot in one of your photos. I found an app that 'heals' such things. It is called Snapseed. No doubt there are others that do similar tasks. I only use the 'heal' function, and depending on the surrounding shades, it can be unobtrusive.Out training with my pack this weekend View attachment 139713
I use Snapseed; it's an app bought by Google. Although I use its tools for exposure control, etc. I generally use it only to crop photos and to decrease its size. For example, the original size of my last photo is 2 MB but the size of my uploaded photo that is stored on Ivar's server is less than 360 KB.I see a sunspot in one of your photos. Up and down the same road 10 times? That surely also is mental training!Historically, I have not been a great hiker. Since January 2022, have hiked up to 25 km., and am training on a View attachment 139730View attachment 139731road such as this, walking up and down 10 times in an afternoon in order for the body to get used to breathing and tire.
Love this story @Camino Chrissy and @Rick of Rick and Peg !Thanks go to @Camino Chrissy for pointing out the best walking group ever.
All aboard the Alaska pup bus...
One man's love for dogs has exploded into a business that has delighted the internet all at once.www.bbc.com
Scotland is very beautiful!Been trying to walk every day this year even if it's just a mile or two - I sure am missing the warmth and sunshine of Spain though - we've had snow, ice and bitingly cold northerly winds here on the islands off the north-west coast of Scotland!

Dunnottar still sits on that cliff and it is a true gem.Scotland is very beautiful!
I was ones in a small town - Stonehaven. There was a Castle on a cliff.
And local pub that served hot salmon soup. Instead of the plate they were using bread. So delicios!
And a pint of stout, of course.
After snow then rain and some warmth we actually encountered some mud yesterday too but mostly wet. The mud was thin on top of firm ground so easy to walk though. Someday the earth will suck me in though and I'll have to send in a photo. After the snow and negative temperatures mud of course.
And send some from Czechia. Please keep posting your pictures.
Well, fortunately you don't live in Wellington or the lower Wairarapa. Hope no damage done - likewise from all the flooding!Hopefully it is not the pre-shock for a bigger one that will follow.
Gee - I hope all was well when you woke properly and checked Doug. It must be a worry at times living in these zones. Not so much a walk locally, more a shuffle. ANZ has an alternative name "The Shakie Isles" for a reason.
We just had a bigish earthquake here at 2:02am local time. I was sitting in my lounge thinking about going to bed and my lounge chair started moving.
I have experienced enough of these that I immediately recognised it. It was a decent shake, enough to rattle a few things and it went on for around 20 seconds. The whole house swayed a couple of times.
I looked it up, it took a while for reports to be published but it looks like it was centred around 200klms away and so no primary damage likely in Tamaki Makaurau Auckland but we have just had five months of rain in one week and there are some clifftop houses teetering on the edge and this may have been enough to push them over.
No obvious damage at our house. I will know more in a couple of hours or when I wake up.
Hopefully it is not the pre-shock for a bigger one that will follow.
Yes - floods too in many countries.Well, fortunately you don't live in Wellington or the lower Wairarapa. Hope no damage done - likewise from all the flooding!
