Non binding socks

Hello,
I have recently developed swelling in my lower legs, likely due to a medical condition. Does anyone have suggestions for socks which won’t cause indentations? I tried calf sleeves with my favourite Wright socks, but they made me much too hot. Any other solutions welcomed, thanks.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
While a podiatrist should evaluate you, depending upon how far the swelling goes up the legs and why it's there, there are many brands of compression socks in different thicknesses that go above the calf to the knee, or compression stockings for the entire leg and pelvis. Runners and nurses use them often.

See your doctor first. Please.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

I am a compression socks fan! (Well, I’m not a fan of the multiple varicose vein surgeries that led to me wearing them…) Anybody who is on their feet a lot could benefit from wearing them. They come in different strengths and sizes, different colors and materials. In the US you need a doctors prescription to get them, or else be savvy with the interwebs and already know what you’re looking for. When I walk, I wear super-high-compression synthetic stockings topped by wool lightweight compression ones. I look dopey but my legs are happy!

I also like compression. How did you find getting into stockings every day? Were they like panty hose, or individual thigh high? How did they do with washing? Did you carry more than one pair? Can you share what brand you used? Thank you!

It has taken lots of trial and error to avoid blisters on my Caminos, ( I wear Wright socks and use a foot glide liberally). how do compression socks work for blister prevention?

I have been wearing them for decades now. Just like anything else, you get used to the on/off hassle. For me, the most comfortable ones are knee highs. I like “Juzo Dynamic” because they have a wider top band that really stays up. The pantyhose style would be better for my veins but squeeze the he11 out of the backs of my knees. I have them in toe-less and full foot styles; I prefer the full foot. I have sharp, pointy finger nails so I use latex or vinyl gloves when putting them on. I wash them with my unmentionables in the machine on delicate and hang them to dry, or else wash them by hand. I wear them under knee-length wool socks (of a milder compression) when I go out walking. I will probably bring 3 pair when I do the Camino next year. I don’t think they really help with blister prevention… got a nasty one a few weeks ago! I would really recommend seeing a foot or vein doctor and you need to be professionally fitted before making the big investment (although I am quite tall with long legs, I fit best into the “short” style because, according to the fit specialist, I like to pull them up “too high”). WhatEVER. I love them! The oldest stockings in my drawer right now are from 2019 and aren’t as squeezy as the new ones but I am lazy to do laundry so I have several paírs!

Compression socks.
I also have problem with indentations on my calf from tight socks.the all seem too tight. The sizing is so vague , fits size 6 thru 10. Even though I wear size 9 shoes I have found socks for size 11 thru 12. Same price and still fits foot and non binding on ankle

I know it sounds counterintuitive to go for socks that will bind your legs MORE, but compression socks just may be your answer! This former teacher swears by them. (And at them, every morning and and every evening when she UGHS to get them on and off.) 🤣

I do not have any medical issues that I know of “just very swelly feet/legs”. What I do is that I cut the three that holds the cuff of my socks (right now darn tough ones). This makes the cuff looser and than it doesn’t cut into my leg that much.
