Thanks so much for this! @kelleymac

Here's a complete link.

I particularly like the section about half-way thru - beginning "But how does someone make a pilgrimage? There are a few tips to keep in mind and questions to consider when discerning making a pilgrimage..." Good common sense... imho

Thanks! I'll fix my link. I don't know why it didn't copy over right.

I have just read the article, thank you. Sometimes a short reminder of meaning can help put everything in focus. Also thanks for the link to the publication itself, i will try to look in at it from time to time.

This is an excellent article, and I would encourage anyone thinking about the camino to read it regardless of your religious affiliation or intentions. No matter your motivations to come and walk the camino provides everything you need to open your mind in unexpected ways, but it is much more effective in doing so if you prime it a bit before you go.

And then there are gems like this one:
“As a result, you’ll want to approach it differently than you would your typical vacation. Pack simply and lightly. Manage your expectations: Something will probably go wrong.”

Click the link and read it slowly.

I like the article too, for the same reasons as @wisepilgrim. Importantly, unhappy moments happen as well as happy and insightful moments. Sometimes its hard to know the difference. Often you don't know the difference until many days afterward.

The core of it all, for me is the understanding of "Life as Pilgrimage." Walk softly, walk slowly, walk with an open heart and keep the baggage to a minimum.

Thanks for posting. Very nice article. As a non-Catholic Christian, I particularly like this statement "
"really means to step out of ourselves in order to encounter God where he has revealed himself, where his grace has shone with particular splendor.”
For me, God reveals himself most eloquently in nature unblemished by man. Mountains, streams, trees, animals, and fresh air. Nature's splendor far out shadows any splendor perpetuated by man. Certainly many of the days on Camino fill that need, but it also applies to days spent in the wilderness far away from people and man-made churches and gold resplendent cathedrals. A pilgrimage no less.
