... oh it's his Birthday in a few days and when I asked him what he wanted, he immediate said Pacer Poles (he has been borrowing our daughter's pair to train) ... I laughed and tried to deflect (already have them hidden under the bed) but he one upped me ... and declared rather certainly ... "You have probably already ordered them" LOLOL ... he obviously knows me too well ...

It takes everyone to make something good, including you. Welcome, Buen Camino.I ordered the forum badge because you're all awesome
Starting my first Camino from SJPdP on/about September 5th and taking almost 7 weeks to go to Muxia and finishing at Fisterra.
Booked my first night at Orrisson on the 6th of May. Time is flying by until I leave. I really enjoy reading everyone's plans. It adds to the whole experience even from the planning stages. I am just so excited.... I feel like a kid going to camp.
Hi My name is Ela and I'm new to the forum. I've already booked my flights and time off work and I look foward to start Camino Primitivo just after this Easter Any tips about weather and conditions? Thanks a lot guys
Good present choice. Used my pacer Poles for first time last weekend and I am now a definite advocate - at least my grateful knees are! Yes enormity of endeavour takes a while to sink in and part of me is still in denial that it will be real all too soon. Buen CaminoOrdered my badges ... ordered my sleeping bag ... sample packed everything I have assembled so far and tested in in daughter's backpack (have yet to get my own still trying to decide how big or small I need) walking daily up to 8 km rain or shine (we are slow walking the Camino, only planning on 10+ km daily) and beginning to incorporate some steep inclines/declines. We are hoping to walk in early May and take anywhere up to 2 months to complete but as of yet have not ordered our plane tickets so don't have any reservations for Orrison or SJPP. Our plans have not yet firmed up but unless something drastic happens between now and then it will be a go. I am starting to get nervous. Hubby has begun to get enthused (this has been my baby up til now, he was just my support crew ... but now I think the enormity of what we are about to attempt is beginning to sink in ... yay!) ... oh it's his Birthday in a few days and when I asked him what he wanted, he immediate said Pacer Poles (he has been borrowing our daughter's pair to train) ... I laughed and tried to deflect (already have them hidden under the bed) but he one upped me ... and declared rather certainly ... Well at that pace you are bound to overtake me sometime after Pamplona, as we are taking rest breaks to soak up the vino, culture and interesting places along the way. Buen caminoI am from Ohio, USA and am starting my camino from SJPDP in May, 2015. I have booked my flight and arrive in Paris on the 5th of May and will train to SJPDP. I intend to walk to Santiago in 30-35 days.
I am a little nervous but also super excited.
Buen Camino!
I would love to take more time on the camino. A little culture a little wine. Sounds great! I am meeting a friend in Southern Spain for about 10 days after I get to Santiago. Maybe I will have time for that then. Maybe we will meet.Well at that pace you are bound to overtake me sometime after Pamplona, as we are taking rest breaks to soak up the vino, culture and interesting places along the way. Buen camino
The Andalusia Provence is beautiful. I have a house rented for the last two weeks in June, they say that is spring in the Rhonda mountains and should be beautiful.I would love to take more time on the camino. Well if you are going to Andalucia there is so many places to see - in addition to Ronda, love Seville, Cordoba, Parque Nacional de Donana. If you like Paradores - (1) Mazagon - on the beach, (2) Carmona - near Seville, (3) Ronda - for location. If you go to Jerez de la Frontera (near Cadiz) there is a wonderful spanish horse show - "Fundacion Real Escuela Andaluza del Arte Ecuestre". When I go to Portugal in July will be revisiting Mazagon and stopping at Cadiz before flying back from Seville. Enjoy the tapas and try wonderful sherries. I am staying in Gaucin, a painted village above Gibraltar. The cost per night for a house that sleeps four is $100.00 US. If you can still plan look at rusticblue.com. They have self catering units all over Andalusia. Some are less expensive than this. They are flexible on dates. Gaucin is 30 minutes off the coast. I will be there from the 13th to the 27th of June. Let me know if I can help.Oh wow, you are heading on a similar path as me - maybe our paths will cross. I have recently been researching Southern Spain and do intend on visiting Ronda. We will be staying on the coast and will try to explore as many of those beautiful cities as time allows. We are also planning on a one night stay in Morocco. I have a flight booked out of Santiago to Malaga on the 6th of June so that only leaves me 30 days to complete the Camino. I wish we would have rented a house.
I rented my car at the airport last time and will do so again so I can just leave it when I fly out. I haven't looked at the rates yet but rusticblue. com can give you leads on that also. Hi Hope! I am going solo September/Oct 2015. Very excited. I've done 7 days on the Appalachian Trail a loooonnng time ago but other than that no long distance hiking. I live in USA, Alabama. MelanieHi
I'm Hope. I'm planning to walk the Camino from St Jean to Santiago in Sept/Oct 2015. I've read a book on what to take, and probably more importantly, what not to take and have just started reading John Brierley's guide. I have only ever done one trek before and that was a 3 day mountain trek in New Zealand (I'm a West Aussie) so this is quite an adventure for me.
I'm really very excited about it. I am not sure whether I'll be walking alone or with a friend yet but either way I will be walking!!
Looking forward to meeting and chatting with fellow pilgrims here
Hope
Hello Melanie, I am from Mobile and am going in May and June of this year. This forum has been great for gaining information and meeting people that will be traveling the same time as you. It takes the "alone" out of being solo. I hope you have a great journey. Buen Camino ! StephenHi Hope! I am going solo September/Oct 2015. Very excited. I love people who are more concerned about the spelling of a word rather than the meaning in the context in which it is used. Thank you for the clarification.Hi all.
Excuse me, you allow me a geographical correction.
Andalucia is an autonomous region, and it has eight provinces. Spain is made up of 17 autonomous regions and two autonomous cities.
Just pretend that you know a little more about Spain.
thx.
Good Morning Mike, at least it is here, I first visited Spain about eight years ago and stayed in Gaucin for two weeks. I was able to connect with members of the Andalusian masters swim program and swim with several of the clubs while I was there. Mijas and their club were very gracious to me. I have always had a love for the area and the people since then. I am so excited about being able to come back and spend so much time and see more of your beautiful country. Your English is so much better than my Spanish. I try and want those I come into contact with in your country to know how much I appreciate their hospitality and the chance to learn more about them, their beautiful country and traditions. If you are going to be on the road or in the area I am staying at the end, it would be great if our paths crossed.Hi Stephen.
I have even big problems with my English.
My intention is to teach a little about Spain.
Thank you for your understanding and I apologize for my English.
Mikel
Snow is possible but unlikely. I take a fleece and outer jacket (a wind jacket since I am not too susceptible to the cold). Your combination sounds good if you hate the cold! I presume that the down jacket is not large or heavy. You can layer: t-shirt, long sleeve shirt, fleece, jacket, and poncho. It is hard to get cold in that combination. Buen camino.I have a light weight duck down jacket and a polar fleece - will I need both in April? I believe that it is likely to be still snowing and I hate the cold

My husband (Ian) and I (Trish) will be starting our Camino Frances from SJPP on 8th April. We're taking it fairly slow and will be finishing in Finisterre on 22nd May then back to Santiago for our last night on 23rd May. If anyone else is out there at the same time, please say hi .
There are 5 weeks to go before we leave and I am starting to get nervous and very excited - we haven't done enough in the way of practice walks but we have read so many accounts of people doing it without any practice so we think we should be OK.
Question for all you veterans and Camino experts - I have a light weight duck down jacket and a polar fleece - will I need both in April? I believe that it is likely to be still snowing and I hate the cold

Maybe see you both in April.....I start 23rd....Will soon be here...Burn CaminoThought it was time I joined this class! I'm planning to start my Camino from SJPdP mid-April 2015, after having postponed my earlier planned departure (Sept '14) at 10 days' notice, for medical reasons. I'll be walking with my 79-year-old mother. Back into training now following recovery from surgery, building up the length of my walks and rethinking equipment to take ("essential" being such a relative term!). This forum has been my constant companion, source of strength, advice and support for over a year now, and with flights re-booked and plans re-made, I'll be counting on you all to get me through the next 4 months until we go!
Sorry spell checker keeps changing my message.....Buen CaminoMaybe see you both in April.....I start 23rd....Will soon be here...Burn Camino

Hello Melanie, I have found that the earlier I buy my ticket the better the deal. I am flying into Paris and taking train to SJPdP to start. REI is a great place to get equipment. If you keep an eye on the forum you will meet friends that are starting the same time as you and have someone to begin with. I think we are in for the adventure of our life. Do you know a Mr Charlie Jones who owned Builders Cash and Carry in Enterprise? We used to do business together, nice man. StephenHowdy neighbor I live in Enterprise. My Camino journey has started... gathering gear, walking, and now meeting fellow travelers. I am excited about going solo.. there's a freedom to it. Can't wait to meet new people and just go with the flow. I will be excited to here about your journey and would love any last minute advice you can offer upon your return. My your trip be all you hope for and more Buen Camino Melanie
Hy, wish you well on your great journey. And also a Buen Camino, Peter.Hi all. My Camino starts on September 1st from St Jean. Hope to see you all along the way
Welcome, and enjoy the journey. I wish you a great experience and a Buen Camino, Peter.I'm Karen, my husband is Randy. We are from Ohio. We will be biking in June. (From Leon) can't walk it because of my knees. We are so excited and have been reading and planning for months. We welcome any words of wisdom!
Gain weight! That's more fun.I have to make a decision, with everything I am planning to take I either need to try and cut back or gain more weight to stay with the 10% rule.
Buen Camino !
Stephen
Have a great time. Wish you a Buen Camino, Peter.Wow, another month done, and in the books. ..and what a month it was...3+ft of snow here in New England. Makes training very difficult (and dangerous) with nowhere to walk except in the middle of the road. ..lucky for me my job (ups driver) forces me to do alot of waking to and from my truck...lol
Another storm coming in tonight with another 6" to top of what we already have
Traveling May 30....start waking june 1st to finestera/muxia from SJPDP. ..
Cannot get here soon enough ....#enoughsnowalready!!
FYI Lush also carries shampoo bars, which can also be used for body and clothes Mine just arrived. Seems to work well -- at least here at home. Have seen a post suggesting putting a toothpick in the bottom of a plastic container to keep bars from sticking to the bottom and turning to goo. Worth a try.Be sure you try it first in a camino-type environment. You will be taking everything you own (almost) into the shower, and Lush sheets will turn into a soggy bar of soap in the wet environment!
Hi Melanie, Hopefully we will meet on the trial. I'm still not 100% sure I'm going this year but it's looking pretty positive at the moment. Hi you guys, I will be on the Camino Frances in may & june, doing "relaxed walking" ... hope to see you along the way, LauraI'm planning to walk the Camino Ingles in May, 2015 & this time my husband wants to come. I just did the Frances from SJPP & has been home for 3 months now. Looking forward to this Camino & hoping my experience walking Camino Frances will help me plan my next Camino. This will be a great way for both of us to celebrate birthdays, his 71st & 70th for me.

I am starting my camino from Le Puy on 25th March - have wanted to follow a camino for many years but work/time have prevented me from doing this. Have just been made redundant and at the age of 63 I think it is now or never. Have completed a few long distance trails in the UK (Winchester to Canterbury, the south west coast path, etc) but never in one go, so am looking forward to it. My French and Spanish are pretty poor but I am sure I will manage with a small dictionary! The Class of .. threads were started back in when 2007 Arn had the bright idea of creating a topic for all those planning to go in 2008. Will be carrying a 65l pack which will not be full, but the great info on this site indicates warm weather clothing will be needed for some of the route in france during April. Arrival date in Santiago - when I get there!

If anyone is in Estella on 19/20 May say hello.
Walking for a week from Estella - where we left off last year. (Me and 3 sisters)
Buen camino
How very exciting! It sounds like a scene from The Hobbit or maybe The Princess Bride.Looks like I will reach Estella on the 19th. Be nice to say hello to you all. However, there are likely to be many more Pilgrims then, so, to help you know who I am I will be the one riding a large pure white stallion and wearing a suit of shining armour. If you watch closely enough you might see me slaying a dragon, saving a damsel in distress and rescuing a kitten from a tree.
If we don't meet - Buen (sister-loving) Camino

Buen Camino, have a great adventure.Hi Class of 2015! My camino date has changed from this September to May 11, 2015 (I leave in about 9 weeks)!! I am so excited. I am flying into Pamplona and staying with a couple who have done the walk and now have a guest house. They also will drive you to St. Jean which is where I will start. My walk will begin from St. Jean on May 13. I have most of my gear with just a couple of small things left. I've been walking daily and love it. Anyone else heading out from St. Jean on May 13? Buen camino!

Hi Kiko I'm the same - being a walker, thinking about... now it's the time to put it into practice My first Camino is fast approaching and it will be Primitivo so quite close to yours. I'm going on my own but I'm a bit of a loner so it will be great.Hello to all!
I am from the UK and am planning to walk the CdN in mid-june. Not sure i have the time to make it all the way but planning to start from Irun and see how i get on.I don't see many others doing the CdN on here?
I have heard of the Camino over the years, and being a bit of a walker it has always been on my mind. The movie The Way cemented my desire however and i suspect ill have another viewing before i set off

Hello all
Can anyone advise how many times you need to have your Credential stamped.
Is it OK to have it stamped at your accommodation when you arrive or leave.
I thought I had read that you had to have it stamped twice a day but probably mistaken as that seems like overkill to me
Mike
OK thanks for that. No doubt will find out once underway.I thought they were only looking for twice a day for the last 100KMs? Because really you only have to go 100 KMs to get the document.
