Well, not today, last weekend but I've only just uploaded the photos to my computer
A symphony in four movements:
1. Nan Hai Pu Tuo Temple at Sellicks Hill with its 18m-tall granite Quan Yin statue. Very much a work in progress with future plans for a 35m pagoda, an 18m temple and Chinese gardens. A tranquil and blessed start to the day.
2. Myponga Conservation Park on the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia. This is a scenic little reserve brimming with low scrub native bushland. A bit steep in parts with a dear little seasonal waterfall and prolific bird life as well as some welcome - and not - reptiles and occasionally an echidna though we only saw a road kill this time out
For anyone looking for a walk to train for some of the rougher, steeper parts of the Camino, this is a very good one away from the metropolitan area. Met a huge wild steer near the creek but he was fat and full so didn't present any problems.
3. Along the start of South Australia's famous long distance walk the 1200 km
Heysen Trail out of Cape Jervis. This coastal part is one of my favourites - and yes, I've walked it all but in stages as much of it is seriously remote and often you even have to carry ALL your water! That's why all the Aussies on the Camino have smiles on their faces - one litre of water weighs one kilogram.
4. The Cape Jervis jetty, setting off point for a visit to
Kangaroo Island, with its views of the island across the Backstairs Passage.
