Sept 2017, Longrono to Burgos
hey everyone, planning my first Camino experience from the start of sept from Ireland . Would flying to Madrid and getting the train up be a good option (I've Ryanair vouchers to use!!!), I'm not an experienced walker but always wanted to do some of the Camino, one part to test my self out of my comfort zone, the other as I enjoy my own company!!! Any advice at all the would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the forum @Martin Curran and Buen Camino. Catching the train from Madrid to Logroño is perfect. There are multiple other options, but Logroño to Burgos is a good choice, and easy to get to the start at Logroño, and home from the finish at Burgos.

Martin the other option on Ryanair that is fairly easily followed is fly to Biarritz and then bus to San Sebastian and bus to Logrono. From memory from the last time the connections work really well. But Madrid to Logrono should work as well...depends on what prices you are getting for either destination.

It's also easy to get from Bilbao to Logrono, and back from Burgos. I've done both.
There's both bus and train options from each; in Logrono the stations are fairly close together so choose what's most convenient for you regarding times from when your flight get into Bilbao. In Burgos the train station is outside the city, but the bus only takes 2 hours to Bilbao.
