Hi I will be a solo female cyclist on the VdP in May 2019 from Seville and taking the Ourense variant route. Any information regarding route and accommodation would be welcome.

Hello Linda bicigrina........I will be leaving Seville a bit before you ( 24th April ) on my third ride of the V dlp /Sanabres route . I love this camino , hard on a bike at times if you truly stick to the camino , but really enjoyable . The albergues along these 2 caminos are in general fine and all had a place to keep my bike inside ( except the municipal in Ourense ) . Talking of Ourense , the hot roman springs are a must to relax those aching legs and to prepare yourself for the hard climb out or town the next day .
If you have any specific questions , and i can help , then i will .

Regards.....John

Like John, I loved this route. Despite the abnormally cold, wet spring last year, it did not dampen my enthusiasm, and I shall be cycling it again this year, this time starting on the Mozarabe. The municipal albergue in Ourense, incidentally, has an arrangement with the bar across the road for overnight bike storage in their lock-up garage. They will charge you €1 for the privilege, which is a very small price to pay for the security of your bike. The only disadvantage is that you can’t retrieve it before 7 a.m. when the bar opens. Buen camino bicigrina!

Thank you Paladina for your tip about bike storage in the bar, I will make a note of it. Also when I cycled the Camino St.Francis we had snow and hail stones in certain places so you have reminded me to take some warm layers.
