- Time of past OR future Camino
- Most years since 2012
Many of us have had to cancel planned trips to Spain, at least for a few months. We have had a week or two of continual discussion of "to go or not to go", logarithmic growth, and bad news. Those topics are getting a bit depressing and repetitive.
I am going to suggest some happier topics to fill our camino needs when we can't walk. If you have more ideas, give them here and perhaps start a new thread - if so, consider mentioning it below and adding a link to the new thread.
Let's try not to have these ideas go too crazy or off-topic, but here are some starters.
Walking at home - I don't want to let my walking at home lapse just because I don't need to train for an imminent camino. So, I am continuing to mark each day on the calendar how far I have walked (not steps, I only count the real walking kilometres) with the target of doing 50 km/week. We have the ongoing thread Where did you walk locally in 2020. That's a good place to talk about your daily walking. Maybe if it gets to be too long a thread, we'll need to subdivide it or just start a new one.
Virtual caminos - There are many map-related tools for this, and perhaps this is a good time to figure them out! I need to organize my collection of KML files, but never seem to find the time to do it. Here is a thread that touches on the subject of how to do a camino when you can't. We might re-watch some vlogs such as Efren's, or walk with John Sikora from Seville to Salamanca - or here is one of his forum threads. One time we have had a story-quiz thread (I can't find it) where someone took us on a stage-by-stage walk; the story was developed on the thread and people made suggestions as to what the character would do or see the next day.
Guess the photo - We have had a few threads where someone posts a photo, and the first correct responder gets to post the new one. Usually these related to the Camino Frances but maybe we could go to other routes too.
Anyway, those are some suggestions to keep us occupied.
