Leon to Santiago de Compostela (April 2014)
Have tried numerous times but to no avail. Select my dates but for some reason am unable to continue to purchase my selection. I have set up a user ID but event that does not work. Any suggestions?

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Is it because you are trying to book too far in advance? I was looking up prices and was trying to go along the booking a ticket path but cancelling before paying just to find out how much they would be. The only tickets I could view were within a couple of weeks of now (not when I'm going) but at least I have a bit of an idea when they go and how much they'll cost. Not sure if this is what is causing you problems though.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Same here. I set my email up so that I'm alerted when they are available.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
I'm not sure if this helps but I just managed to book Santiago to Porto in March. I did not have to much trouble, I put the site into English and off I went. Might be worth trying again!

Do you have a Paypal account? From my experience I also couldn't finish the purchase on ALSA site using (non-Spanish) debit or credit cards directly. When I used Paypal during checkout, everything went smoothly.

If you are planning to buy ALSA tickets several times, it may be worth to register online for the Alsa "Club BusPlus". You get some small discounts.

I can only comment on my own experience: This is the same problem that I raised in another thread a few days ago. I was in Zoilo. Three different credit cards were rejected. The hotel receptionist rang them on my behalf, and was told by ALSA that it was purely because I was trying to use a non-Spanish credit card; all other cards are rejected in the online booking; she managed to organise a phone booking using one of the cards, for the ticket which was then emailed to the receptionist, for me to collect. The bus was in fact full when it arrived with many being turned away, then having to decide to chance the next bus about 8 hours later, or walk injured. So if you can, set up a PayPal account or other ideas as Arthur 1218 suggested. I also know from experience that bookings aren't released till a certain time before the travel. Perhaps other pilgrims have different experiences but this is what I was told by the receptionist while she talked to ALSA.

Try the Movelia site instead. Worked for me when ALSA wouldn't.!

BTW, I can say nothing but good things about the bus services in Spain.

As previously stated , pay pal will get you a ticket if purchasing from the USA. A credit card doesn't work , at least from my experience. Very straight forward. I would recommend the supra bus . It is a luxury liner of transport and only a few bucks more. Good luck with your plans.

In case anyone reads this old post and is having problems with credit card payment...

From ALSA's Faq page today:
  • Can I pay with a bank card not issued in Spain?
Alsa.es only accepts bank cards issued in Spain. Those people who wish to pay with international bank cards must use our PayPal payment system. You can also pay with foreign cards as long as they have secured payment configured with its bank.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
I just purchased a ticket on alsa.es and couldn't use my US cc. But a PayPal payment, with funds charged to that cc, worked fine.

The ALSA ticket machine in the Madrid airport did not accept my US credit card. Luckily, I had plenty of Euro to feed into the machine.
