Avoiding asphalt

Time of past OR future Camino
2021
I am beginning planning our pilgrimage for early June 2023 for 4 of us. We prefer a route with the least road walking and wondering which routes would be best between the Portuguese or the Norte. We will only be walking the last 160-180 km due to time constraints. I've walked the Primitivo already and loved the scenery, quiet towns and rugged trails. A similar experience would be great so if a completely different route is recommended I'd love to know. We do want to end in Santiago.
TIA

St James' Way - Self-guided 4-7 day Walking Packages, Reading to Southampton, 110 kms
Hi bonniegrace, I've walked the last 100km of the Portugues with my family (Vigo-SdeC), with the Variante Espiritual. There's little asphalt on that route and I recommend it. Like you, I've done the Primitivo and enjoyed it for all the reasons you did. The Variante Espiritual is gorgeous, with forest walking, tiny villages, and an enchanting second day along the Ruta da Pedra e da Auga. And then a boat trip too!

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
Hi, while the Norte is a fantastic walk, if you're looking for the least amount of asphalt possible, I'm afraid it probably wouldn't be the right one for you. There is quite a bit of roadwalking on that one.
