Hey

I am torn as there are so many beautiful routes. Ideally i would do camino del norte, maybe irun to bilbao... But i want to start in April and I am just wondering if it busy enough to find accommodation.

I live in the Basque Country so I am blessed with being able to go with less expenses and notice. I am also cursed with neing able to go home anytime

I am going to do the full camino frances in June for my 30th birthday so I want to get some training in.

I have two dogs but feel it might be best to leave them at home even though they could take the walking side as they ae strong working dogs. Its the accomodation and roads that made me think that was best.

Any tips would be welcome as i have not done a camino yet and its always been a dream

From Tamar
Buen camino

Hey there,

That is a mighty good idea. Do you know if the albergues are open in April? It seems there are only a few of them. Also can I get my pilgrims passport from irun fo you know? Thanks for your knowledge, seems like its all right on my doorstep.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Credencial from the Albergue in Irun c/Lucas de Berroa 18 635 743774 or 645 722725 opens at 4:00pm.

Most of the Albergues are not staffed, there are contact numbers. Worth 'phoning the hospis in advance to let them know you are coming. We used this guide: https://www.csj.org.uk/product/los-caminos-del-norte-b-tunnel-route/ plus updates from the CSJ and from @peregrino_tom here: https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/vasco-del-interior-impressions-and-photos.35951/ and then improvised. We used Hostales a couple of times when we couldn't raise a Hospi and in Zegama where we discovered that the "Portocabin" is in fact a few beds along one wall of the Polideportivo with the managers Motorbike (partially deconstructed) parked next to them. o_O

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Thankyou so much ... i will look into this right away sounds very adventurous.. fantastic!!!!

Good suggestion from @Tincatinker but I have a little doubt one week would be enough. I walked Ruta de Bayona (Bayonne - Burgos) which overlapse with Camino Vasco Interior from Irun to Estavillo, in something like 12 days.

What about Camino de Besaya, Ingles or Manchego? They are all within 1 week easily.

Either way I wich you Buen Camino! :)
