Buffs, Camino Buffs specifically

My knowledge of gear needed to walk the Camino de Santiago has grown by leaps and bounds over the last month. :roll:
Thanks to my fellow/sister forum members I now not only know what a buff is, I know there is one especially designed by and for forum members. :lol:

I got in touch with Bev and have ordered mine ~$20.00 Canadian + postage. She mentioned in her email that since she only sells them to forum members she still has quite a few left if you would like one as well.

On the subject of shoes, however, I remain as confused as ever. :?

on the shoes:

go to the store, try on every pair, buy the ones that makes your feet feel absolutely most at home and comfertable if that doesn't happen go to the next store and start over, then you are probably better off than most :lol:

I was totally in love with my shoes and people remarked on them . So light , airy , comfortable in all terains and not wateproof . My friends walked in wet wet shoes while mine dried as I walked . Hokia - challenger RTR 4 - wear merino - Ice breaker socks - no blisters . Use that anti blister precaution stick by comped and use it also at lunch time when you change your socks or air them.

Take a two different styles to start - you will know which ones you love within a few days of continuous walking and then I bet you will wear the same pair each day ( have one extra to change into ) you can wear your spare socks at night with your Teva sandals or give them away to other pilgrims - An extra equipment box often seen in hostels .

I loved my hiking boots and had worn them on hikes around where I live for several months. I then kept reading on the blog to make sure I had boots/shoes that where one size larger than you normally wear as your feet will swell since you walk so far for continuous days. I took this advice to heart and went and bought the same brand and model hiking boots I had been wearing, Cabelas brand, in a size 13 instead of the 12 I normally wear. I then four months later left and started in Pamplona and walked to Santiago de Compostela (42 days). I am so glad I listened to what people on this forum had to say. I will say you need to wear good socks also. I wore Darn tough socks and loved them. I also wore a buff pretty much everyday and loved them. Best of luck to you and have a blast.
